What is Prelap?
Prelap is an AI video feedback tool for video editors and agencies. It turns the voice notes clients record on a zero-login review link, plus texts and emails you paste in, into a timestamped revision checklist, and exports the notes as markers to DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro and Final Cut. The name comes from the editing term: a prelap is when the next scene's sound arrives before the picture cut, and Prelap gets you the notes before you cut. It was built by Sami Ullah, who runs the video editing agency Vidify.
How do clients leave feedback without creating an account?
Every version gets an unguessable review link. Your client opens it on any device and can type a note, record a voice note, or draw on a frame, no sign-up, no password, nothing to install. Everything they add lands in your workspace, organized by timecode.
Does it work with WhatsApp-style voice notes?
Yes, that's a core workflow. Clients can record voice notes directly on the review link, and you can also paste texts or forwarded emails. The AI transcribes everything and turns it into a timestamped revision checklist.
What languages can clients use?
Their own. Clients can type or talk in Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Bengali, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Turkish or Indonesian, or mix any of them with English: each one is tested end to end, and most other major languages work too. The transcript keeps the client's own words, and the editor can view an Urdu voice note's transcript in Urdu script or Roman Urdu with one click. The revision checklist always comes back in clear English, with times said in any language placed on the timeline.
Is this a Frame.io alternative?
It solves the same review problem with a lighter client experience. Prelap does not require reviewers to create an account or learn a portal: they can leave voice notes, comments, and frame notes from a simple review link. Reviewer seats are free on every plan.
Can I export the revision notes into my editing software?
Yes. One click exports markers for DaVinci Resolve (CSV), Final Cut Pro (FCPXML), Premiere Pro (XML), or a universal EDL, at your project's exact frame rate, plus CSV and PDF checklists for humans.
What happens when a client asks for something outside the original scope?
The AI can label it as a New Request, separate from fixes to existing work. That gives you a clear, respectful way to discuss extra rounds or added scope.
